SBS Christchurch Marathon
& Christchurch Half Marathon

The SBS Marathon is organised for and on behalf of the ‘City of Christchurch’ International Marathon Trust Board’ by MCM Sports Promotions Ltd. This race is held on an IAAF certified course and is held under Athletics New Zealand rules.

This event is the highlight of the Christchurch Marathon Clinic’s running calendar. Most of our competitive runners plan and train for this wonderful event held in the cool of winter each year.

This lightning fast course (no hills) is also considered one of the most beautiful courses in New Zealand and possibly the world.

A new course adopted in 2007 has the marathon runners completing a two lap course which follows the same route as the half-marathoners. The event starts outside the Town Hall and runners run down Kilmore St to the Avon River. The course follows the river to the Bassett St. bridge and returns along the other side of the river to Peterborough St. They then skirt Hagley Park before finishing in Kilmore Street (Half Marathon). Entry forms are available from most sports shops. The clinic also has a supply for members.
